mmm greens

We have a huuuge garden this year with lots of greens planted:

kale and spinach and swiss chard , mustard greens, arugula - some are already ready, some still to come- yum!

This is a block print I made last year, but I thought I'd include it with this post because in our huge garden are many crows hopping about- I love them- I guess they're eating slugs and such.... don't know, but I like to see them out there!

Some images of what has inspired me in the past and what came out of it. I'm thinking of reprinting the stones on paper.... Anyway It's fun to look back and see where inspiration grew from.
I have the print hanging in my bathroom, and seem to like it better every day (if you don't mind me saying!)  I like to live with art for awhile to see if I really like it.

I just love these fields of red clover? When I lived in California there were fields of yellow mustard. What kind of fields of color grow near you?

Ferns Block Print

I'm trying to share more of my current and ongoing block prints + do more of them more often. This is Ferns- inspired by the lovely almost rain forest like floors of the Pacific Northwest forests. - lush, green and abundant!

Amazing Book

I highly recommend this book- if just for the fact it tells the story of the NW forests.  But also little stories within stories- like- did you know? a sea otter has a little pocket that he keeps a sharp rock in for opening oysters (but they take it away from him in captivity because he hits it against the glass)   I love that!

It's not a new book, so should be found in the library or local used book store!  (that picture is/was a real tree)

Rufino Tamayo

One of my favorite artists- Rufino Tamayo- I just love the colors and subject matter!
